23 students, 2 wardens killed in Tahfiz School fire in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR – A total of 23 students and two wardens died in a fire in the religious school, Pusat Tahfiz Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah, at Jalan Keramat Ujung here early Thursday.

According to the spokesman of the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, six students and a member of the public were injured in the incident.

The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 5:41 a.m.

Video recordings by the public showed the topmost floor of the three-storey building was still burning during the call for morning prayer (Subuh). (Bernama)
