MANILA -- Three days after essentially confirming his departure from La Salle, basketball coach Aldin Ayo heads for the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

The university’s school paper, The Varsitarian, broke the news Friday.

The development ends months of speculation regarding Ayo's future that began with some Green Archer fans rescinding their support from Ayo. This was further ignited when reports began to surface that he was being eyed to succeed Boy Sablan as head coach of UST’s Growling Tigers.

Ayo helped his alma mater Letran capture the 2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association title before moving to La Salle and giving the Green Archers the 2016 University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) title.

Ayo will be formally introduced as the Growling Tigers' new chief tactician on Thursday. He is expected to be with the team for the next six UAAP seasons. (PNA/Photo courtesy of Archers' Clubhouse)
