MANILA -- It seemed like a two-and-a-half-week break was all Wang's-Letran needs to get back to its winning ways.

The Couriers whipped the JRU Heavy Bombers, 73-55, in their PBA D-League Aspirants Cup showdown at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City on Monday night.

Wang's-Letran turned to its defense to pummel the struggling JRU, limiting its fellow NCAA side to only 25 points by halftime, and finally pulled away for good with a 28-point third quarter to check its own skid.

"We made sure that we don't commit the same mistakes when we lost successive games against Zark's Burger-Lyceum and Marinerong Pilipino. I thought we did a pretty good job on both ends," said Coach Jeff Napa.

Christian Fajarito led the Couriers with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Bong Quinto finished with 13 points, eight coming from the game-turning third quarter.

Aaron De Guzman led JRU, which lost for the fifth straight time, with 12 markers and four boards. (PNA)
