BINAN CITY, Laguna — Kaya Iloilo subdued Fiji, 3-2, in a special club-versus-nationals match-up at the Binan Football Stadium here on Saturday.

Iloilo went off to a good start, which was enough to hold off Fiji that once again threatened in the second half, two days after doing so against the Azkals.

Just after the opening kickoff, Iloilo got into the scoreboard as Alfred Osei found the net for a close-range shot in the second minute.

Jovin Bedic made it 2-0 with a 33rd minute strike as Iloilo seemed to be in control of the first half.

Remuera, however, made the match interesting as he scored off a corner in the 48th minute to put Fiji on the board.

The national team actually became more aggressive in the second half but could not find the equalizer.

Connor Tacagni eventually kept Fiji at bay with an 82nd minute dagger goal for Iloilo. Dave Radrigai scored a consolation goal for Fiji in the second minute of stoppage time.

Both teams are using the match as a tune-up for their respective stints.

Iloilo is currently on a month-off as its next Philippine Football League match will be on April 4, while Fiji is doing early preparations for next year's Pacific Games. (PNA)
