MANILA -- Batang Gilas clinched a spot in the FIBA Asia U16 Championship quarterfinals after swamping Hong Kong, 103-61, in the wildcard phase at the Lingnan Mingzhu Gymnasium in Foshan, China on Thursday.

A day after getting blown out by Australia, Batang Gilas vented its ire on Hong Kong with a wire-to-wire finish that earned the team a clash with Japan on Friday for a semifinal spot and a seat for next year's FIBA U17 Championship.

King Balaga and RC Calimag each scored 12 points, while four others made 11 apiece for Batang Gilas, which only committed eight turnovers, a far cry from the 29 it had against Australia.

Lung Tsz Kit fired 18 markers for Hong Kong.
