Castro named Player of the Week

MANILA -- With Jeremy Tyler shut down, TNT KaTropa leaned on its focal leader Jayson Castro who delivered nd was named Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Castro exploded for 27 points, five assists, three steals, and one rebound off the bench to lead the KaTropa to a 96-92 win against Barangay Ginebra on Sunday night.

Castro found his stroke in the second half, making eight points in the third quarter and converting back-to-back triples to spark TNT's game-deciding 11-1 run.

With his stellar performance, the PBA Press Corps named Castro as the Player of the Week as announced late Wednesday night.

"The Blur" earned the nod over GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle and Sean Anthony, Rain or Shine forward Jay Washington, Alaska’s Vic Manuel, Meralco’s Chris Newsome and Mike Tolomia, and Phoenix sharpshooter Matthew Wright and Willy Wilson.

The KaTropa are currently taking a week off and will only return to action against the Aces on Sunday night. (PNA)
