MANILA -- Just before the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) went to its All-Star break, NLEX and Blackwater went to work in terms of trading players.

Both teams agreed on a trade that will see Dave Marcelo and Rabeh Al-Hussaini swapping kits. The trade was made official on Saturday coming at an opportune time as both teams were currently on a slump.

Blackwater is in need of more ceiling with Poy Erram and James Sena its only legit local big men.

On the other hand, NLEX went for Marcelo as Coach Yeng Guiao looks at utilizing him, Raul Soyud and Mike Miranda, who have shown brilliance this season, more often.

"Dave Marcelo can be part of our future mainstays," said Coach Yeng Guiao in a statement the day before, when NLEX announced the then trade proposal.

He added there are NLEX players who are retiring soon and they are looking "for the next generation".  (PNA)
