Columbian ends winless spell, shocks ROS

MANILA -- Columbian may already be out of playoff contention, but the team refused to end its campaign in the PBA Governors' Cup without a win.

The Dyip broke out of a dry spell in the season-ending conference after trouncing the Rain Or Shine (ROS) Elasto Painters, 100-84, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo, Rizal on Friday night.

Columbian began the game red hot with a 13-2 run. ROS came close and even took a 61-57 lead in the third quarter but Columbian responded with an 11-2 run to end the third ahead, 68-63.

The Dyip then pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the E-Painters, 23-7, early on for their largest lead at 21 points, 91-70, and never looked back.

Akeem Wright tallied 23 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block for Columbian, which finally notched the win after starting the tournament 0-9.

Jerramy King added 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal, while Rashawn McCarthy and Ronald Tubid each made 16 markers.

Terrence Watson only fired 18 points for ROS, which dropped to 2-5, but he also had 10 rebounds, two assists, and three blocks.
