MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato -- The Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) is now hosting the first–ever Oblate Schools Cultural-Athletic Association (OSCAA) Meet 2018 with some 500 athletes from five Oblate-run schools in the country in attendance.
The three-day sports event, which officially started Thursday, opened with a mass presided over by Archbishop of Cotabato Orlando Cardinal Quevedo at the NDMC gymnasium here.
“Delegations from Notre Dame of Jolo College (NDJC) in Sulu, Notre Dame of Greater Manila (NDGM), Notre Dame University (NDU) in Cotabato City, and Notre Dame of Kulaman (NDK) in Sultan Kudarat province arrived on Wednesday at the NDMC grounds with a warm welcome from NDMC community,” said Fr. Jonathan Domingo, OMI, school president of NDMC.
After the mass, a parade around the Midsayap town proper followed. Sports competition officially commenced at 1 p.m.
On Friday, sports competitions would continue until 5 p.m. while extemporaneous speaking contests will be held at the JBB Audio Visual Room starting at 8 a.m.
In the afternoon, a quiz bowl would take place at the Primera Function Hall. In the evening, the search for Mr. and Ms. OSCAA, a vocal solo contest and a “Hip-hop” competition would come about at the NDMC gymnasium.
The awarding ceremonies will be on Saturday after the Cultural Night and Concert for Peace at the NDMC field.
“The theme of this year’s event is “One Oblate, One Mission: Diverse yet united in hope and love,” Fr. Domingo said.
He said the OSCAA endeavors to achieve, nurture and sustain unity, love, respect, solidarity, peace and harmony and sportsmanship among Oblates schools as a role model of developing disciplined and God-fearing athletes, among others. (PNA)
