MANILA -- Stephen Loman successfully defended his Brave bantamweight championship after beating former Brave featherweight champ Elias Boudegzdame in the main event of Brave 22: Storm of Warriors at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Friday night.

Loman won in style in his very first match back in the Philippines since joining Brave, knocking out his Algerian opponent with just one second left in Round 4.

He, however, still had to avert an early disaster, as a slip midway through Round 1 opened a chance for Boudegzdame to attempt for a takedown.

Loman's superb takedown defense kept Boudegzdame at bay as he even opened a cut just below his opponent's right eye.

He continued to pounce on Boudegzdame in the next two rounds before connecting on a right hook that sent his foe down for good.

Loman's win assured that at least one of the championships Team Lakay had last year would remain with the Baguio-based squad this year.

In the co-main event, John Brewin of New Zealand stunned Cian Cowley of Ireland via split decision.

Brewin got the nod of two judges, 30-27 and 29-28 respectively, while the other judge had it 29-28 for Cowley.

In other results, Jeremy Pacatiw scored a third-round armbar submission win over fellow Filipino Mark Alcoba, while Gab Dy knocked out Mehmosh Raza late in Round 1. (PNA)
