CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- FC (football club) Valencia booters, powered by Nigerian missionary Chun Chun, won the Men’s Open Division crown in the third Mayor Clive D. Quiño Football Cup held at the Camp Philips pitches in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, Sunday.

Chun was un-stoppable from the eliminations up to the finals, where he led the Valencia boys in scoring. He then punctuated his heads up performance when he blasted the winning goal in their 3-2 win over Monte Carlo FC during the shootout in the championship to win the title.

It was the team's second title since its formation last year with the support of the Valencia City’s Azucena P. Huervas. They won their first title in the Lotto Cup held at the Xavier University pitch last January.

The Valencia booters swept the elimination round defeating MOHGS, 3-0, Pinutos FC, 1-0, and Kabir FC, 2-0. They then topped Titans FC, 2-0, in the quarterfinals and then Manolo FC, 3-2 in the semis to arrange a showdown with Montecarlo.

Chun, who scored in every match, was named MVP while Manfrid Murillo, also of FC Valencia, won the best goalkeeper award.

“It was a blessing and great honor for us and for the city of Valencia to win this championship and being the best among the 23 teams which participated in the tournament,” said playing coach Jaysan Andagan, who is also the coach of First Fruits Academy, in Valencia City.

Other members of the team are Ralf Esconillas, Ryan Buenaflor, Christian Melgazy, Jhon Sabio, Jezreel Zafra, Dan Cupida, and Orval Ortega.

The tournament was organized by Guiller Sumampong of the Bukidnon Football Association in celebration of the 102 Charter Day of Manolo Fortich. (PNA)
