MANILA -- Ahead of its buildup for the PBA Commissioner's Cup, Blackwater made a coaching change, putting Aries Dimaunahan in charge as interim coach.

Silliman Sy, the team's governor in the league board, confirmed to the Philippine News Agency the said development on Wednesday, which basically meant the club parted ways with Bong Ramos.

"[It was a] management decision," said Sy, the son of team owner Dioceldo.

Following a stint full of hope in last year's Governors' Cup, the Elite crashed badly in the Philippine Cup, only winning twice in the said conference, prompting the coaching change.

Dimaunahan is not a stranger to the Ever Bilena franchise as he played for the team, then known as Blu Detergent, in the defunct Philippine Basketball League prior to being drafted in 2003 by Ginebra.

After playing for five teams in the PBA and spending one more season in the ASEAN Basketball League, Dimaunahan found himself returning to Blackwater as an assistant coach.

With the coaching change, Dimaunahan was elevated to head coaching status, although in an interim state.

"This may be the break [he] needed," the younger Sy added. (PNA)
