TripAdvisor names Korean Air best airline in Korea

MANILA -- Travel and restaurant review website, TripAdvisor, on Wednesday named flag carrier Korean Air (KE) as "Best Airline in Korea" and one of the winners of "Travellers' Choice Major Airline in Asia" in its 2019 TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for Airlines. 

Jill Chung, deputy general manager of KE's Corporate Communications, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) that the carrier is thrilled to receive TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice recognition for three consecutive years. 

"In order to meet the customers' expectations, we will keep pursuing 'excellence in flight' in every possible aspects, and try to make Korean Air experience even more special for all our customers," she remarked. 

The Travellers' Choice Awards is based on the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings over a 12-month period. 

According to TripAdvisor, KE has high ratings in various areas, such as cleanliness, customer service, food and beverage, legroom and in-flight entertainment. 

KE said there are more than 4,000 reviews about KE in 26 different languages on TripAdvisor. 

The carrier is also celebrating its 50th year this year. 

Earlier, an airline executive told PNA that its outmost priority is customer satisfaction. 

"We keep upgrading our fleet by introducing high-efficient aircraft, and we pursue service efficiency by operating our fleet based on the traits of each route," the executive said. 

Department of Tourism records show that the most number of tourist arrivals in 2018 were from South Korea, with 1,587,959 visitors. This was followed by China, United States, Japan and Australia. 

From the Ninoy Aquino International Airport alone, KE serves the Manila-Incheon route 18 times a week. (PNA)
