MANILA -- The Department of Energy (DOE) expects the power supply situation in Luzon grid to improve this weekend following a two to three-hour power interruption on Friday.

In an advisory, the DOE said a maximum of 6 percent of the load in Luzon, 588 megawatts out of around 10,022 MW demand peak, experienced interruption.

“However, we see an improvement of the system for Saturday and Sunday due to low demand on weekends,” it said.

The DOE also sees more system improvements between Saturday and Wednesday next week with the entry of power plants of South Luzon Thermal Energy Corp. (SLTEC) Unit 1 of Ayala, San Miguel Consolidated Power Corp. (SMCCPC) Limay Unit 2, Pagbilao Unit 3 of Team Energy and Aboitiz Power, and Sual Unit 1 of Team Energy. (PNA)
