MANILA -- Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Wednesday announced it would resume flights to and from Clark International Airport on Thursday.

Clark Airport has been closed since Monday after sustaining damages from the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that jolted Luzon that day.

Authorities announced the airport will be operational by Wednesday afternoon.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said more than 50 flights out of Clark have been cancelled since its closure. The carrier operates 26 daily flights out of Clark.

Earlier, PAL Express president, Bonifacio Sam, conducted an ocular inspection of the terminal building.

While PAL's flights to and from Clark remain cancelled on Wednesday, Villaluna said PAL is operating several replacement flights.

To cater to passengers affected by the Clark Airport closure, Villaluna said PAL mounted replacement flights between Manila and Busuanga, Manila and Batanes, as well as extra flights between Cebu and Busuanga. (PNA)
