MANILA -- South Korean flag carrier, Korean Air (KE) announced that it is continuously beefing up its digital transformation, and has started to implement the iCargo, a next-generation system that is based on Cloud technology.

"KE has been providing cargo services for almost 50 years now. The carrier recently launched the (use of) a next-generation cargo system to combine the full scope of end-to-end cargo business functions in a single, integrated system," So Yeon Park, KE's Global Communication Team assistant manager, told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday.

She said the iCargo will enable KE to provide consistent service through integration of sales-reservation-operation systems.

"It also provides up-to-date information via customized monitoring function, and tracks the status of shipments in real-time via email or SMS, depending on customer's preference," she remarked.

Park clarified that KE is not the only passenger airline that offers cargo services in Korea.

Launching iCargo is part of the airline's digital transformation, according to KE.
Improvements to provide user-friendly functions will continue until March 2020.

The carrier will soon introduce an AI-based cargo revenue management system (RMS), which could help boost the airline's profitability.

Furthermore, KE will migrate its entire IT system to Cloud by 2021, and will continue its digital transformation to cope with rapid developments in the industry. (PNA)
