MANILA -- To widen its reach and maximize e-commerce in the region, AirAsia's RedCargo Logistics has signed an interline agreement with Oman's flag carrier, Oman Air.

RedCargo Logistics chief executive office Pete Chareonwongsak told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Tuesday that the interline agreement was signed on April 29.

Under the agreement, RedCargo's customers would be provided access to Oman Air's cargo network to United Kingdom, Europe and Africa.

Oman Air's customers, on the other hand, could book cargo space on AirAsia.

"RedCargo Logistics utilizes the belly space of more than 5,000 weekly passenger flights (of AirAsia) across Asia Pacific," Chareonwongsak remarked.

He added that RedCargo is the sole cargo provider for the whole AirAsia Group, including its long-haul affiliate, the AirAsia X.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Oman Air vice president for commercial cargo, Mohammed Al Musafir, said the partnership would enable Oman Air to offer a wider choice of destinations in the Far East region. (PNA)
