MANILA — The U23 Azkals settled for fourth place in the Merlion after slipping to Indonesia's own U23 squad, 0-5, in the Battle for Third at the Jelan Besar Stadium in Singapore on Sunday night.
Muhammad Rafli quickly put Indonesia up with a fifth-minute goal before the U23 Azkals kept the 0-1 scoreline at halftime.
The Indons pulled away in the second half, starting with a Rizky Febrianto penalty in the 47th minute.
Rafli then completed a hat trick with goals in the 60th and 67th minutes.
Asnawi Bahar sealed Indonesia's win with a 73rd-minute goal.
The Merlion Cup is an invitational football tournament held in Singapore annually from 1982-1986, in 1992, 2009 and 2019. (PNA)
