CEBU CITY -- The Social Security System (SSS) on Friday conducted its Run Against Contribution Evaders (RACE) against 13 establishments in Mandaue City, Cebu.

Helen Solito, senior vice president for SSS-Visayas, said the RACE team of the SSS central office and the Central Visayas regional office handed over the show cause orders for the firms’ failure to comply with the Social Security Act of 1997 (Republic Act 8282), as amended by Social Security Act of 2018 (RA 11199).

The RACE team conducted the operations against the 13 companies in Mandaue City for allegedly violating the social legislation laws, such as their failure to remit social security contributions for their employees, under-declared salaries, and lack of SSS registration, she said.

The show cause orders were served to the companies, which persisted in ignoring the notices of violation from the SSS and after more than a year has elapsed since their attention was called regarding their infractions.

The SSS had reportedly sent demand letters, asking the 13 companies to settle their obligations but ignored them until the operation.

The SSS has a condonation program on penalties against employers found to have violated the social legislation laws, covering March to September this year, he said.

She also explained to representatives of the establishments their violations, especially those that have continuously failed to remit the SSS contributions of their employees.

The RACE team also pinned huge copies of show cause orders on the façade of every establishment that they visited during the campaign.

The RACE team served the show cause order to Clint Kamms Corp.; Phialo Trading Corporation; EFM Staffing and General Services; Cherryl Serino/Cheronn and Cherren; Soko Motorcycle Parts; Giardini del Sol; and E-style and Inspiration in Photography.

Other establishments served with the orders were YSS Motor Shop; Unishop Enterprises; Unite General Merchandise Inc.; RLB Apparel Shop; Cebruery Artisanal Ales and Lagers Production; and Ma. Consuelo Food Service. (PNA)
