Davao City, DavOr players rule Bugsayan Kayak Fest

DAVAO CITY -- Rodney Banquillo of Davao Oriental and Anna Rhodora Diez of Davao City ruled the Open Men and Women competition in the just concluded 3rd Mayor Tina Yu Bugsayan Kayak Fest in San Isidro, Davao Oriental.

Banquillo topped the Open Men followed by the son-and-father team of Carl Louie Escoltor and Walter Escoltor of Davao in second and third place, respectively.

Diez, on the other hand, won the Open Women by a come-from-behind victory over former Samal champion Kizia Marie “Kim” delos Reyes, who finished second.

Davao’s April Joy Trinidad placed third. Diaz and Trinidad combined to win the All-Women Tandem.

Sheena Clate and Christine Pal finished second followed by third placer delos Reyes and Jessa Gallosa.

The other results in the All-Men Tandem are Rodney and Reggie Banquillo- Champion; Sowaib Madjib and Datdat Edno - second; and Walter Escolter and Tatay Nagar - third place.

Local kayak – Single Men champion was Reggie Banquillo; 2nd- Sowaid Madjib; and, 3rd – Datdat Ebno.

In the Single Women, the champion was Rosemarie Destresa; 2nd – Gina Victoriano; and 3rd – Faida Oxillo.

The Tandem Mixed champion went to Rodney and Reggie Banquillo; 2nd- Sowaib Madjib and Datdat Edno; and 3rd – Glenn Philip Dadivas and Narciso Edquilla.

The champion in the Vinta category went to Walter Escoltar; 2nd – Adrian Bocanegra; and 3rd – Tatay Nagar.

The Tabanog category champion was Alvin Suaner; 2nd – Arnel Genilza; and 3rd – Leo Labawa.

The Kayak Fest held on June 22 to 23 was organized by the Bugsay Dabaw headed by Dan “Jhune” Bacus and the municipal government of San Isidro, Davao Oriental. (PNA)
