SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) rolled out its "Kapatid Mentor Me" program for 46 micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) in this province on Wednesday.
DTI Assistant Regional Director Ermelinda P. Pollentes, who led the kickoff, said the program will have 10 modular sessions on entrepreneurship.
The 46 mentees have already started their businesses about a year ago and target to further acquire knowledge and skills to ensure the success of their endeavors.
“The mentees are being taught on how to prepare their financial statements,” Pollentes said.
The mentees, belonging to Batch 3 and Batch 4, will alternately have their mentoring sessions at the DTI Antique provincial office in the succeeding days until they finish the 10 modules.
Paul Anthony De Guzman, of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, who talked about the mentoring program, said MSMEs started with Module 1 on Wednesday.
The first module talks about Entrepreneurial Mind-setting and Values Formation.
He explained that the "Kapatid Mentor Me", which was started in 2016 as a national program but implemented in Antique in 2017, has already produced two batches of mentees.
DTI Antique provincial director Mercedes Young said that from the first two batches, there are already successful entrepreneurs like Ramon T. Iwag, proprietor of the Enriqueta’s Sweet Delicacies, and Estrellita Garcia, proprietress of the Lilet’s Mushroom Farm. They were also invited to share how the program was able to help them.
“These successful entrepreneurs will inspire the mentees,” Young said.
The Enriqueta’s Sweet Delicacies is into "tablea" or native chocolate-making while the Lilet’s Mushroom Farm is into production and sale of mushrooms in the market. (PNA)
