MANILA -- Phoenix expressed sadness on the claims of the wife of star swingman Calvin Abueva that she is allegedly being battered but reiterated that the team will deal with the claim seriously.

"Claims of domestic violence and neglect have no place in our team and are seriously considered and mulled over by the company," the Fuel Masters said in a statement on Tuesday.

On Saturday night, Sam Abueva, using her husband's previous Instagram account, revealed in a live video that she was being hurt by the embattled PBA star.

However, Calvin denied all the accusations using a new Instagram account and even claimed that she is doing acts of infidelity.

"We have consistently provided moral support to Calvin throughout these troubling times. We have been continually reaching out to the distressed cager despite his unresponsiveness and absence from the team prior even to these untoward recent incidents. More importantly we will continue to reach out to assist the Abueva family in this difficult time," Phoenix further stated.

Abueva has been in hot water since an unsportsmanlike conduct against Terrence Jones.

Abueva was suspended indefinitely for his unsportsmanlike conduct.

Abueva was then seen playing in a so-called "ligang labas" in Montalban, and it was revealed that the Fuel Masters did not give him clearance to play there, leading to an undisclosed fine slapped on him.

However, the drama surrounding his life reached the boiling point with his wife's claims.

"Once a full and appropriate legal procedure of these allegations is conducted, the team will assess the situation further and from these decide Calvin's fate with the team," Phoenix said.

"As an organization, the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters does not stand for any form of violence or other behaviors that violate the trust and values we have in common with the entire Phoenix family, our Fuel Masters fans, and our great game of basketball," it added. (PNA)
