MANILA — Chris McCullough rocked the Philippine basketball community late Tuesday night with a tweet apparently expressing his intent to join Gilas Pilipinas Men.

The San Miguel import tweeted, "Naturalized player for Gilas...." while adding two emojis, a pair of eyes and a guy raising his hand, signaling that he wants to be naturalized.

But when asked by reporters the night later to explain the social media post, the former National Basketball Association player declined to discuss about it.

"Not now," he said.

However, the begging off was understandable as the San Miguel Beermen fell prey to the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters in Game 3 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The loss, which prevented SMB from sweeping the best-of-five series, came despite a 51-point explosion from him.

"I played a tough and hard game. We just didn't win," McCullough added.

Currently, another former NBA player, Andray Blatche, is the designated naturalized player for the national team.

However, a move to naturalize Ginebra's resident import Justin Brownlee is ongoing despite being at a slow pace.

There are also calls for another ex-NBA veteran, Terrence Jones, to give Gilas Men a try. (PNA)
