Castro best player, Jones best import in PBA Cup

MANILA — Jayson Castro and Terrence Jones took home the individual awards for the PBA Commissioner's Cup as announced on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Castro was named Best Player of the Conference with a total of 1,077 points, way ahead of runner-up Junemar Fajardo, who had 762 points.

Ray-Ray Parks, who was ahead in the statistics department until the semifinals, finished in third place with 576 points.

Fellow rookies CJ Perez and Robert Bolick rounded up the Top 5 after getting 428 and 421 points respectively.

Castro got the nod after topping the votes from the media and the PBA Commissioner's Office.

Fajardo, on the other hand, topped the voting among players with Castro finishing a close second.

Meanwhile, it was a landslide win for Jones as he topped the stats and the votes from the same sectors, garnering a total of 1,254 points.

Erstwhile winner Justin Brownlee finished in second place with 882 points.

Chris McCullough came in third with 729 points, while Carl Montgomery finished fourth with 399 points.

This meant that TNT KaTropa swept the individual awards for the mid-season conference. (PNA)
