PAL, Cathay resume 'some' HK-Manila flights Tuesday

MANILA -- Flag carriers Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cathay Pacific were able to secure some flights between Hong Kong and Manila on Tuesday.

Hong Kong International Airport was shut down on Monday as the anti-government protests escalated inside the gateway.

PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said the resumption of the airline's operations comes after protest actions within the airport premises have scaled down.

PR 300, PR 318, PR 306, PR 310, PR 312 Manila-Hong Kong, and PR 301, PR 319, PR 307, PR 311 Hong Kong-Manila flights are scheduled today.

Flight PR 313 Hong Kong-Manila, however, remains cancelled.

Meanwhile, three Manila-Hong Kong flights of Cathay Pacific supposedly scheduled for August 12 were reinstated for August 13 by the Airport Authority of Hong Kong, according to Jojo Aganita, senior airport operations manager of Cathay Pacific-Manila.

These flights are CX 918D, CX 902D, and CX 934D.

Flights CX 901, CX 919, CX 930, CX 935, CX 939, and CX 976 were cancelled on Tuesday. (PNA)
