San Juan stretches best MPBL start with rout of Cebu

MANILA — The San Juan Knights continued its hot start in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season after drubbing the Cebu Sharks, 88-69, at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City on Monday night.

The Knights slowly but surely pulled away from the Sharks to post their 10th straight win to start the season, already the best start in league history.

John Wilson made 23 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three steals, and two blocks for San Juan, whose immaculate 10-0 record will be on the line against another hot squad, GenSan, on Saturday night.

Mac-Mac Cardona added 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Jhonard Clarito chipped in 10 points, 11 rebounds, six dimes, two steals, and one block.

Edrian Lao posted 14 markers and eight boards for Cebu.

Meanwhile, Pasay prevailed at home against Rizal, 74-69, behind a hot 26-point performance from Axel Iñigo in the main game, while Manila upended Valenzuela, 71-66, behind clutch free throws in the end. (PNA)
