MANILA -- BRT Sumisip-St. Clare dealt Black Mamba a 161-122 beating in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
BRT Sumisip-St. Clare -- and the game in general -- set a new league record in the win.
The 161 points the team had shattered the 144 scored by Hyperwash in its win against McDavid-La Salle Araneta on August 19.
It was also in the said game that the previous highest combined score in D-League was set when the two squads combined for 282 points.
The record was broken when Black Mamba's Kim Medina scored on a layup with 14.1 seconds to up the combined total to 283.
Meanwhile, BRT Sumisip-St. Clare set two more records as the team dropped 95 points in the second half, eclipsing the 83 second half points Tanduay set in a 141-65 breakaway from Zark's on July 10, 2017.
Fifty-three of BRT Sumisip-St. Clare's second half points came in the fourth quarter, tying Tanduay's 53 points in the third period against Gamboa on June 27, 2017 as the most by a certain team in a quarter.
"Kita niyo naman nag-e-enjoy na yung mga bata nung huli (As you have witnessed, the players enjoyed it towards the end)," said coach Stevenson Tiu on BRT Sumisip-St. Clare's second half record surge.
Mohammed Pare made 31 points and 19 rebounds for BRT Sumisip St. Clare, which moved up to 5-0, clinching a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
Joseph Peñaredondo added 25 points on six triples.
Jett Vidal made 18 markers for Black Mamba, which dropped to 3-2 in Group A. (PNA)
