DAVAO CITY – The “Bakbakan sa Babak” will be held on September 7 at Babak District in Barangay Igacos (Island Garden City of Samal), featuring the all-Samal City team against the Butuan City squad.
To be pitted in the main event is Ian Donaire of Davao City and Anferne “Impyerno” Palarca of Las Pinas City in the 6-round flyweight division.
The 21-year old Donaire (3W-1L-0D, 2KO) lost for the first time to Remark Alicaba in a 1st round stoppage last Sept. 1 in Digos City. Donaire, however, started with three straight wins since 2017.
He won via a 1st round knockout against Mark Mahilum of Negros Occidental on May 23, 2017 in Guihulngan City. In the second fight, Donaire won by a unanimous decision over Rolien Gelatada of Cebu on Oct. 13, 2017. On January 15, 2018, Donaire knocked out Jayson Franciso (4W-0L) of Kidapawan in the 3rd round in Cagayan de Oro City.
On the other hand, Palarca, 23, (3W-2L-0D, 1KO) started with three straight victories before absorbing two losses.
In his last outing, Palarca retired Lony Cadayday of Davao Oriental in the 3rd round in 2016.
Palarca never fought in 2017 and 2018, but promised to make a big comeback.
The undercards are all 4-rounders -- Nilo Entero vs. Mark Mapandi Golo; Jessie Bell Goltiano vs. James Junio; and Silvestre Aredidon vs. Froilan Golo. The fight is promoted by Willi Neri of Winer Sports Promotion. (PNA)
