MANILA -- Pedro Taduran captured the International Boxing Federation minimumweight title after edging Samuel Salva in the all-Filipino world title fight at the Philippine Navy Gymnasium in Taguig on Saturday night.

Taduran, who formerly fought for the World Boxing Council title, recovered from a Round 1 knockdown and inflicted huge shots to Salva's head in Rounds 3 and 4.

After the fourth round, Referee Danrex Tapdasan called the fight off after noticing that Salva could not respond anymore, giving Taduran the technical knockout win.

Taduran jumped to 14-2 in his career, while Salva suffered his first loss after winning his first 17 bouts.

In the other bout with a belt on the line, John Zulueta issued a similar post-Round 4 TKO win against Mark Florida for the Asian Boxing Federation light flyweight title.

Florida, who could not stand Zulueta's dominance, conceded after Round 4.

Zulueta remains unbeaten with 11 wins and two draws, while Florida slipped to 12-9. (PNA)
