MANILA -- Mediapro Asia, in a joint venture with SINA Sports, will organize a three-day 3x3 event that will happen this weekend.
The 3x3 Elite League Manila will be open to 3x3 teams that want to have a shot at competing in China, a known 3x3 hotbed.
The pool stages are scheduled on Sept. 20-21 at the Dumlao Sports Complex in Mandaluyong and will culminate in the playoffs on Sept. 22 at the Market! Market! Activity Center in Taguig.
Overseeing the tournament is Philippine Basketball Association legend Jerry Codiñera, who was named commissioner of the tournament.
“I’m honored to be part of this tournament. I look forward to seeing the best Filipino talents in 3x3 come together and compete for a chance to represent the Philippines in international competitions,” Codiñera said.
The winning team will take home USD3,000 (almost PHP157,000) and a spot in the SINA 3x3 Elite League 2019 that is scheduled in December in Beijing.
The other finalist will take home USD2,000 (around PHP104,000), while the third placer will get USD1,000 (around PHP52,000). (PNA)
