Azarcon to face Rojo in Oct. 19 rematch

DAVAO CITY -- Orthodox fighters Clyde Azarcon of this city and Garry Rojo of Bohol will have a rematch on Oct. 19 in Danao City, Cebu.

The two engaged in a majority draw in their first fight last Feb. 23, 2019 for the vacant Visayas Professional Boxing Association light flyweight title in Cebu.

The 24-year-old Azarcon then won a unanimous decision over Ernesto Alera of Negros Occidental last June 5 in Cebu, but suffered a 1st round knockout to Ginjiro Shigeoka of Japan last July 27 for the vacant World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific minimumweight title at Tokyo's Korakuen Hall.

Rojo, on the other hand, has nine wins with five knockouts against 13 defeats and one draw.
The 24-year-old orthodox fighter later lost by a 2nd round knockout to undefeated Christian Bacolod of Manila last July 26 in Iloilo.

Meanwhile, newly-crowned World Boxing Organization Asia Pacific Youth bantamweight champion Carlo Demecillo of Cebu will face Jonathan Francisco of Zamboanga in the undercard.

The 23-year-old Demecillo has 13 wins with six knockouts against five losses and one draw, while the 26-year-old Francisco has 10 wins with four knockouts against 12 defeats and one draw. (PNA)
