BACOLOD CITY -- Japanese apparel giant Uniqlo continues its expansion in the Philippines with the opening of its 60th store here on October 18.

The newest branch, located in Ayala Malls Capitol Central, is the brand’s second store in Bacolod. The first is inside SM City Bacolod.

Uniqlo Philippines marketing head Camille Pacis said the success of the first store in Bacolod prompted the opening of another branch here.

“We really see and feel the warm reception of the people from your community. That’s why we are expanding more. We recognize the growth and the potential of Bacolod,” she said.

Pacis, together with Reiny Vergara, senior public relations and sustainability manager, met with reporters here on Thursday to announce the opening of the newest store.

“(This) marks the growing commitment of Uniqlo to provide simple, innovative, and high-quality clothing to the Filipinos. In all our existing stores, the reception of our customers has been very good,” she added.

A day before the store opening, Uniqlo Philippines will partner with the Negrense Volunteers for Change (NVC) Foundation Inc. for an outreach program that will benefit two communities in the city.

“We are going to donate clothes to (these) communities in Bacolod,” Vergara said.

The beneficiaries will include some 300 families who will receive 1,500 pieces of clothing from Uniqlo.

NVC president Millie Kilayko said on Saturday their group is excited to partner with Uniqlo for the outreach activity and also for future projects that will involve their common interests, especially in the areas of sustainability and education.

“For this first project together, NVC Foundation’s Mingoy Food Shuttle will serve Mingo champorado meals to the families who will receive clothing bundles from Uniqlo,” Kilayko added.

With the opening of the second store in Bacolod, Uniqlo now has eight stores in the Visayas, including three in Cebu City, one in Iloilo City, one in Pavia, Iloilo, and one in Tacloban City.

Uniqlo’s Manila Global Flagship Store in Glorietta 5, Makati City is the biggest store in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia.

The Uniqlo Ayala Central Capitol Store will offer the complete line-up of Uniqlo LifeWear including 2019 Fall/Winter collection featuring new and on-trend styles for the cold season; essentials such as U Crew Neck T-shirts, EZY jeans and ankle pants, Dry-Ex and AIRism; and loungewear collections.
