MANILA – The Department of Energy (DOE) on Wednesday reminded businessmen and the public against any changes in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene in Digos City, Davao del Sur.

“A State of Calamity (SOC) was raised in Digos City, Davao del Sur today (30 October). Thus, a price freeze for household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene products in this area is now in effect and will remain valid for 15 days upon the announcement of a SOC,” it said in a statement.

The department committed to update the public regarding energy-related matters in areas affected by the 6.6 magnitude earthquake that hit parts of Mindanao Tuesday morning.

The DOE said it has activated the Task Force Energy Resiliency (TFER) following the latest earthquake in Mindanao.

It said the two units of the Mindanao Geothermal Power Plant (MGPP), which have total net generation of 92 megawatts (MW), tripped at 9:05 a.m. Tuesday because of high equipment vibration, but these have been restored as of 2 p.m. of the same day.

Several distribution cooperatives also experienced power interruptions but have been restored to date, the statement added. (PNA)
