MANILA -- A medical consumables manufacturer has assured the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that there will be more supplies of N95 masks.

The DTI said the mother company of Medtecs International Corp. Ltd abroad will be supplying 400,000 pieces of FFP2-N95 masks that are set to arrive next week.

“The public should not worry as DTI is working to ensure the supply of reasonably-priced N95 face masks will be made available to the public to protect them from the ashfall generated by the Taal Volcano eruption,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said.

Medtecs’ Bataan facility has two million pieces of N88 surgical masks that are ready for distribution in the market.

Medtecs chief financial officer and director Wilfrido Rodriguez vowed the company is not increasing the price of their N95 masks, which is sold at PHP60 per piece.

The company has already donated a total of 12,000 pieces of N95 masks and 500,000 pieces of N88 surgical masks to affected areas of Taal Volcano eruption through DTI regional offices.

The recent donation of Medtecs included 2,000 pieces of N95 masks and 100,000 pieces of N88 surgical masks. (PNA)
