MANILA -- Filipinos now have more options for health management as Pru Life UK introduced its all-in-one digital app, Pulse.

In a briefing Wednesday, Pru Life UK president and chief executive officer Antonio de Rosas said the mobile app is not meant to replace medical practitioners but to aid people on initially assessing their health concerns.

He said the app will be “very helpful” especially for people in far-flung areas to get timely medical diagnosis and help them make correct decisions.

De Rosas said the cost of medical services is beyond a lot of people’s financial capabilities so most people are adamant to have check-ups to assess their medical situation.

He, however, clarified the app is not meant to sell life insurance policies but to prevent and postpone any eventualities.

“This is part of our financial literacy (program) so people will be more knowledgeable,” he said, citing that insurance companies do not want to do business in country where people are not healthy.

The app is now available in Google Store and will soon be available in IOS devices. It has currently an English version but a Filipino version will be available by March or April.

It can be downloaded by Pru Life UK policyholders and the general public, but Pru Life UK officials said they are planning to give policyholders exclusive access to their accounts through the app.

De Rosas said data to be collected by the app may eventually be used by Pru Life UK to gather information for their potential clients but added “that is not yet the intention at this stage because we are in a very, very premature stage.”

He said they also follow laws on data privacy, among others. (PNA)
