Covid-19 cases in PH now 636; death toll climbs to 38

MANILA -- The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported 84 new confirmed positive cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 636.

In its 4 p.m. medical bulletin, the DOH also reported six new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the country to 26. They are patients 95, 10, 18, 82, 31 and 23.

Patient 95 is a 64-year-old Filipino female from Batangas with travel history to Italy. She had the symptoms on March 6 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 14. She was discharged asymptomatic on March 24 with two negative results.

Patient 10 is a 57-year-old Filipino male from Quezon City with travel history from Taiwan. He manifested the symptoms on February 20 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 8. He was discharged on March 23 asymptomatic with two negative results.

Patient 18 is a 41-year-old male from Pasig City with travel history from Taiwan. He had the symptoms on February 26 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 9. He was discharged on March 24 asymptomatic with two negative results.

Patient 82 is a 66-year-old Filipino male from Quezon City with no travel and known exposure history. He manifested symptoms on March 5 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 14. He was discharged on March 24 asymptomatic with one negative result.

Patient 31 is a 28-year-old Filipino female from San Juan City with exposure to a known Covid-19 case. She had the symptoms on March 1 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 10. She was discharged on March 22 asymptomatic with one negative result.

Patient 23 is a 30-year-old female from San Juan City with no travel and known exposure history. She manifested the symptoms on March 3 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on March 7. She was discharged on March 24 asymptomatic with two negative results.

The DOH also reported three new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 38. They are patients 319, 326, and 29.

Patient 319 is a 56-year-old Filipino male from Quezon City with no travel and known exposure history. He was confirmed positive with Covid-19 on March 21 and died on March 22. He died from community-acquired pneumonia secondary to Covid-19. He also had diabetes and hypertension.

Patient 326 is a 57-year-old Filipino male from Caloocan City with no travel and known exposure history. He died on March 16 and was confirmed positive with Covid-19 on March 21. He died from acute respiratory disease syndrome (ARDS) secondary to community-acquired pneumonia secondary to Covid-19. He also had diabetes, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.

Patient 29 is an 82-year-old Filipino female from Marikina City with travel history from the United States of America and exposure to a known Covid-19 case. She was confirmed positive with Covid-19 on March 10 and died on March 23. She died from shock multifactorial, ARDS secondary to Covid-19 pneumonia, acute renal failure secondary to sepsis. She also had diabetes, hypertension, and valvular heart disease. (PNA)
