MANILA – Xiaomi Philippines is providing PHP3,000 financial assistance to its employees to help them in their daily living during the enhanced community quarantine period, its country manager Mark Li said.

“Following the guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine, our retail business in the Philippines has been put to a halt. During the period, we want to ensure that members of our team are being taken good care of, as Xiaomi always prioritizes the health and safety of our staff,” Li said in a statement Wednesday.

He said the company has 500 workers in the Philippines.

Moreover, the company is also extending the warranty coverage for three months for those customers with warranty coverage due between March 15 to May 15, 2020.

“Days might seem longer and the future might look uncertain, but we firmly believe that this is just temporary and altogether we will overcome the Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) and become much stronger,” Li said.

Xiaomi produces smartphone brands Redmi and Mi. It entered the Philippine market in 2016.

To date, the Chinese smartphone brand has 16 authorized Mi Stores and 13 Mi Zones, or Xiaomi's special zone within multi-brand stores in the country. (PNA)
