Covid-19 cases in PH now 12,718; 94 new recoveries

MANILA – Persons infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country has reached 12,718, with 205 more persons contracting the disease.

The Department of Health (DOH), in its case bulletin on Monday, reported that there are 94 new recoveries and seven new deaths.

The total number of recovered cases nationwide is now 2,729 while the death toll has climbed to 831.

Out of the 205 new cases, the DOH said 145 cases or 83 percent came from the National Capital Region; eight cases or one percent from Region 7 (Central Visayas), and the remaining 52 cases or 16 percent from other regions.

As of May 17, the DOH has 13,382 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

About 34.90 percent of the 2,648 ward beds are occupied; 37.60 percent of 9,412 isolation beds are occupied, and 33.80 percent of 1,322 intensive care unit beds are occupied.

There are 1,941 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients and about 18.40 percent of them are in use.

In Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) facilities across the country, there are 43,906 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Meanwhile, there are 1,348 beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients in mega Ligtas Covid facilities. (PNA)
