MANILA – Electronic wallet service provider PayMaya Philippines vowed its continued support to the government’s financial aid distribution done through digital means.

PayMaya founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Orlando Vea said “mobile wallets like PayMaya are playing a critical role in enabling Filipinos to gain access to much-needed financial aid from government agencies and local government units.”

“We support DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) and the rest of the government’s efforts to digitize citizen disbursements,” he added in a statement Tuesday.

Vea said they have been coordinating with the government to help disburse financial assistance directly to the beneficiaries’ PayMaya accounts.

These financial aid programs are those given through the DSWD like the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and the ReliefAgad and the Social Security System (SSS) for the Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS).

PayMaya has also partnered with the local governments of Manila, Mandaluyong, Pasig, Caloocan and Quezon City. (PNA)
