CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bulacan Provincial Office continues to assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the province with the establishment of more Negosyo Centers.

Mary Grace Sta-Ana Reyes, DTI Bulacan information officer, on Monday said there are now 17 Negosyo Centers in the province, the latest of which to open was in Bustos town last June 11.

Reyes said this is part of the agency's continuing efforts to bring government services closer to the people.

She said a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed by the DTI and the local government unit (LGU) of Bustos for the establishment of the Negosyo Center that will make business-related services faster and easier.

DTI-Bulacan director-in-charge Ernani Dionisio said the MOA institutionalized the partnership between the LGU of Bustos and DTI-Bulacan towards promoting ease of doing business and in facilitating MSMEs' access to the agency’s programs and services.

In compliance with the interim guidelines to contain and mitigate the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, DTI-Bulacan decided to depart from the usual launching activity of the Negosyo Center. Instead, a simple MOA signing with the LGU of Bustos town Mayor Francis Albert G. Juan was held, Dionisio said.

Under Republic Act 10644, the Go Negosyo Act, MSMEs are given ease in doing business through a Negosyo Center.

It is a one-stop-shop, where business owners can process their business registration and seek business advisory services, and provides business information, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation of business-process improvement.

Once a Negosyo Center is in place in a certain community, a local business person will no longer need to line up or go to the nearest DTI office to have his/her business registered and wait for days to complete the process. (PNA)
