MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 1,080 additional coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, raising the overall tally to 37,514.

The DOH said 222 of the additional cases are "late" or results belatedly reported and were only verified recently, while 858 are "fresh cases" or results released to the patient within the past three days.

Of the fresh cases, 158 are from the National Capital Region (NCR), 430 from Central Visayas, and 270 from other regions.

Meanwhile, 45 of the late cases are from the NCR, 38 from Central Visayas, and 139 from other regions.

The DOH also reported 277 new recoveries and 11 new deaths.

"Of the 11 reported deaths, nine (82 percent) occurred in June. Four duplicates were removed from (the) total case count. The total cases reported may be subject to change as these numbers undergo constant cleaning and validation," it said.

To date, the total number of recoveries nationwide is 10,233, while the death toll is 1,266.

In its case bulletin, the DOH noted that 3.7 percent of the active cases are asymptomatic; 95.7 percent have mild symptoms; 0.5 percent have severe symptoms, and 0.1 percent are in critical condition.

In a Covid-19 virtual presser, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the case doubling time in the country as of June 29 is 7.66 days while the case doubling time in Cebu City is 7.47 days.

"As of June 28, we have an average of 825 new cases per day according to the date of reporting and 478 new cases per day according to the date of onset of illness. There's a slight increase here because of the hotspots we're monitoring," Vergeire said in a mix of Filipino and English.

As of Monday, the DOH has 13,281 total bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

Occupied are about 43.47 percent of 3,101 ward beds; 37.89 percent of 8,918 isolation beds; and 35.10 percent of 1,262 intensive care unit beds.

There are 1,995 total ventilators for Covid-19 patients with about 23.11 percent in use.

In facilities of Local Isolation and General Treatment Areas for Covid-19 cases (Ligtas Covid) across the country, some 58,992 beds are dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Meanwhile, some 3,193 beds are dedicated to Covid-19 patients in Mega Ligtas Covid facilities. (PNA)
