CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Pampanga has provided livelihood assistance to 10 micro entrepreneurs in Sto. Tomas town.

The initiative is part of the agency’s Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (LSP-NSB) program.

DTI provincial director Elenita Ordonio led on Tuesday the distribution of livelihood kits amounting to some PHP5,000 each to the entrepreneurs whose business operations were affected by the community quarantine amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The beneficiaries are from barangays San Vicente and San Bartolome in Sto. Tomas.

Before the awarding of the livelihood kits, a seminar on basic business recording was also conducted for sustainability of the business operations.

Ordonio, in a statement, said the LSP-NSB is a program that allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships with local government units.

Through barangay development councils (BDCs), she said the DTI will help capacitate barangay personnel to provide basic business advisory or information dissemination services to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the locality.

She said included in LSP-NSB program are individual package of livelihood kits, which could help qualified affected entrepreneurs.

“The distribution of livelihood kits intends to help micro-entrepreneurs recover and restart their livelihood during the quarantine period,” Ordonio said.

Sto. Tomas Mayor Gloria Ronquillo cited the big help of the program to the MSMEs in the community.

“This program is a big help in this time of Covid-19 pandemic, especially to our entrepreneurs whose business have been affected by the health crisis,” Ronquillo said. (PNA)
