MINGLANILLA, Cebu – After six months of hiatus amid the community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, a premier amusement park in this southern town of Cebu province has officially reopened on Friday.
Chester Lim, Belmont One president, said in his message during the reopening rites that Anjo World opened the amusement facility with caution and advised visitors to observe minimum health and safety standards while enjoying rides and other amenities.

“As we slowly reopen the economy back, we at Anjo World welcome guests as we adopt the new normal measures for the amusement tourism,” Lim said.
He said the facility implements several health and safety measures such as operating at 50 percent capacity, frequent hand washing and sanitizing physical distancing, and temperature checking.
The guests are also asked to fill up health declaration for contact tracing and asked to comply with the mandatory wearing of face mask. The park is also implementing non-contact access of entry and exit points, contact-less ordering of food, and frequent disinfection of facilities and rides.
Lim said the company’s Health Infection and Prevention Control officer regularly checks whether all these health protocols are properly observed.
“Guests will have more confidence when they see that we are health and safety compliant,” he added.
Lim is optimistic that local tourism will start to pick up as Cebu continues the trend of flattening the curve. The reopening of Anjo World will also help institutions in its value-chain such as restaurants, food carts, and suppliers, he said.
“Since international tourism will take time to reopen, we expect a boom in our local tourism towards the last quarter of this year, especially during the Christmas season. People will start to go out as we have been locked down for too long and we deserve a break to reward ourselves, spend time with our families and friends,” Lim said.
He said Anjo World will continue to slowly open other facilities and attractions in the next couple of weeks as the government eases out the quarantine restrictions.
The company wants to position Anjo World as Cebu’s top family destination and a safer theme park for all.
Cedric Reyes, head of sales, marketing ad press relations of the park, said being a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), Anjo World was prepared as early as July to adapting to the new normal.
“Theme parks from abroad shared their best practices in keeping their parks safe,” Reyes said.
He said the amusement park has stepped up its implementation of health and safety protocols to adhere to government mandates by securing a Special Mayor’s Permit from the local government of Minglanilla and certificate of compliance from the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office to resume receiving tourists.
