SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Bureau of Customs-Port of Subic announced on Friday that it collected PHP2.77 billion in revenue taxes for the month of September, which is 50 percent over its monthly target.

Port of Subic Collector Maritess Martin said that while there remain some restrictions in port operations due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, their office managed to maintain its excellent performance for the past months.

Martin said Subic’s collection for the month of September reached PHP2,772,497,748, which is significantly higher than its target collection of PHP1,772,743,928, with a surplus of 56 percent or PHP999.75 million.

She noted that in July this year, Port of Subic also surpassed its monthly target by 1.18 percent, after the bureau collected PHP2.26 billion.

In May, Martin said the port collected PHP1.74 billion which is 12 percent higher than the target collection of PHP1.56 billion, while in June, the collection was PHP2.76 billion, or 45 percent higher than the PHP1.91-billion target.

Martin said that despite many challenges amid the pandemic, the Port of Subic remains vigilant in safeguarding its customs area to deliver what is due to the national coffers. (PNA)
