CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark on Monday said it collected some PHP162 million in revenue taxes for the month of September, which is 50.43 percent more than its monthly target, amid the challenges brought by coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

A report from the Collection Division showed that the Port of Clark collected PHP162,178,510 last month, which is higher than the assigned target of PHP107,808,169 by PHP54,370,341.

This is the fourth consecutive month that the Port of Clark exceeded its target since June.

District Collector Ruby Alameda said that while there remained some restrictions in port operations due to Covid-19, the port managed to sustain its good performance for the past months.

She attributed the successful revenue collection to the intensified border security measures against undervaluation, misdeclaration, and other forms of technical smuggling.

She likewise cited the collaborative efforts of the port personnel who, despite the risk to their health and safety, showed their commitment and dedication to service.

Alameda said the Port of Clark will further enhance its revenue collection efforts to hit their assigned annual collection target. (PNA)
