MANILA – Some Filipino fighters will make their way to the ONE Championship circle in the promotion's October 30 event, ONE: Inside the Matrix.

In an online press conference on Tuesday, ONE chief executive officer Chatri Sityodtong confirmed that one of the Filipino pugs fighting in the said card is former two-time ONE lightweight champion Eduard Folayang.

"One more fight on the card is Eduard Folayang versus Antonio Caruso," Sityodtong revealed.

Interestingly enough, both Folayang and Caruso lost in their last fights to the same opponent, Pieter Buist.

Caruso and Buist fought at ONE: Dawn of Valor in Jakarta on Oct. 25, 2019, with Buist snapping Caruso's 7-0 start in a unanimous decision win.

Buist had a tighter encounter with Folayang at ONE: Fire and Fury at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Jan. 31, but the former prevailed by a split decision, giving Folayang his third loss in his last four bouts.

A win by Folayang over Caruso could put himself in a better position to get the ONE lightweight title back.

Christian Lee, who currently owns the belt, will defend it at ONE: Inside the Matrix against undefeated opponent Iuri Lapicus.

Meanwhile, Sityodtong did not disclose the other Filipinos fighting in the card, but he hinted that they are in the same stable as Folayang.

"A few Filipino fighters from Team Lakay will be competing," Sityodtong said.

The full ONE: Inside the Matrix card will be revealed at a later date. (PNA)
