PH Covid-19 recoveries climb to 273,313

MANILA – The total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide has reached 273,313 with 209 new recovered cases reported on Tuesday.

In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 2,093 new confirmed cases, pushing the overall tally of active cases to 47,655.

Of the active cases, about 85.6 percent are mild, 9.5 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, and 3.4 percent are in critical condition.

Majority of the newly announced cases are from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 557, the provinces of Cavite with 253, Iloilo with 166, Bulacan with 124, and Batangas with 118 infections.

The DOH added there are 25 deaths logged Tuesday which brings the death toll to 5,865.

Of the 25 deaths, nine or 36 percent occurred in October, 15 or 60 percent in September, and one or 4 percent in August.

"Some 22 duplicates were removed from the total case count and 11 of these were recovered cases. Moreover, eight cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation," the DOH said.

As of Monday, the 108 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 33 licensed GeneXpert laboratories have conducted a total of 3,711,021 tests nationwide.

DOH said it has 23,500 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Occupied are about 48 percent of 2,000 intensive care unit beds; 41 percent of 15,400 isolation beds; and 43 percent of 6,100 ward beds.

About 24 percent of 2,200 ventilators are in use. (PNA
