PH Covid-19 recoveries rise to 293,383

MANILA – A total of 327 newly recovered cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) reported on Tuesday pushed its overall tally to 293,383.

In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 1,990 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 44,958.

Of the active cases, around 84.2 percent are mild, 10.6 percent are asymptomatic, 1.7 percent are severe, and 3.4 percent are in critical condition.

Majority of the newly announced cases are from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 580 and the provinces of Cavite with 114, Rizal with 105, Laguna with 100, and Misamis Oriental with 94 infections.

The DOH also reported 40 deaths, which brings the death toll to 6,372.

Of the deaths, 18 or 45 percent occurred on October, 15 or 38 percent on September, 4 or 10 percent in August, one or 2 percent in July, one or 2 percent in June, and one or 2 percent in April.

"About 93 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and 85 of these were recovered cases. Moreover, 11 cases which were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths," the DOH said.

As of Monday, the 110 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction laboratories and 35 licensed GeneXpert laboratories have done a total of 3,943,395 tests nationwide.

DOH said it has 20,600 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Occupied are about 47 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 46 percent of 13,300 isolation beds; 43 percent of 5,500 ward beds.

About 24 percent of 2,100 ventilators are in use. (PNA
