Portuguese football star Ronaldo contracts coronavirus

ANKARA – Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday tested positive for the novel coronavirus, Portugal's football association confirmed.

In a statement, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) said the 35-year-old forward Ronaldo "is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation."

So Ronaldo will not play against Sweden on Wednesday, it added.

The Juventus star had 167 international caps to score 101 goals for Portugal.

A former Real Madrid regular, Ronaldo helped Portugal win the UEFA EURO 2016 title in France. (Anadolu)
