PH Covid-19 recoveries rise by 579 to 293,860

MANILA – With 579 new recovered cases reported on Wednesday, the total number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) recoveries nationwide reached 293,860.

In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) also reported 1,910 new confirmed cases, pushing the overall tally of active cases to 46,627.

Of the active cases, about 84.5 percent are mild, 10.5 percent are asymptomatic, 1.6 percent are severe, and 3.3 percent are in critical condition.

Majority of the newly announced cases are from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 624, the provinces of Cavite with 219, Batangas with 104, Rizal with 91, and Negros Occidental with 63 infections.

The DOH also reported 78 deaths logged from June to October 14, which brings the total death toll to 6,449.

Of the 78 deaths, 64 or 82 percent occurred in October, 10 or 13 percent in September, one or 1 percent in August, one or 1 percent in July and two or 3 percent in June.

As of Tuesday, the 112 licensed reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratories and 35 licensed GeneXpert laboratories have done a total of 3,976,980 tests nationwide.

DOH said it has 20,700 total bed capacity dedicated to Covid-19 patients.

Occupied are about 48 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds; 45 percent of 13,300 isolation beds; and 43 percent of 5,500 ward beds.

About 27 percent of 2,100 ventilators are in use. (PNA)
